Clone Wars Season 7 Ep 9 "Old Friends Not Forgotten" Review
Episode 9 of the final season of Clone Wars, kicks off the Siege of Mandalore with a bang. The
beginning of the episode really showed how powerful Anakin has become in the force, striding
confidently in of front of thousands of droids ignoring the ongoing blaster fire like it was impossible
for them to hit him. This show of strength was made more apparent by the fact that a minute earlier
Obi-Wan was forced to retreat into cover due to the ongoing fire from the droids. This opening action
sequence really demonstrates the power Anakin possesses going into this final arc and Revenge of
The Sith. The rest of the first half of the episode reunites Ahsoka with the 501st, Obi-Wan and
Anakin. It also sets up the beginning events of the Revenge of The Sith, where Palpatine is
"kidnapped" and the Siege of Mandalore. The reunion was awfully short but it was great seeing
Ahsoka interacting with the 501st and Anakin again.
The second half of the episode was an incredible action sequence that is easily the best of the season
so far. Seeing Ahsoka jump from ship to ship taking out Maul's syndicate members was just
amazing, finally getting to see her at full power with lightsabers again was a great feast for the eyes.
The throne fight with Bo Katan was also good, seeing her use a blaster proof shield was really cool.
The final sequence of the episode with Ahsoka and a contingent of clone troopers entering the
sewers only to be taken out one by one until Ahsoka is the only one left was a bit heart-wrenching.
The episode ends off with Ahsoka coming face to face with Maul in a dire situation cut off from the
rest of the 501st and Bo Katan. This episode was incredible, from the character moments to the setup
for the Revenge of The Sith and of course the action. I expected the final arc to have the best episodes
and so far it's off to an amazing start. To no one's surprise, this is my favorite episode of this season. I
give this episode a 10 out of 10 in terms of enjoyment. If this episode is an indicator of the rest of the
arc than this is going to be one of the best arcs of the whole series. In these harsh times, this is the
type of content that gives us a great escape and gives hope to the future of Star Wars content unlike
the cluster fuck that was the sequel movies.
