Glitch Techs Season 2 Review

Glitch Techs is awesome and I couldn't praise it enough. If you haven't watched the series yet, go watch

it now. Regardless, before you read any further, spoilers await you if you haven't watched season 2 of

Glitch Techs. Season 2 of Glitch Techs is an improvement in all aspects besides the environments and

diversity of settings, this is disappointing considering that the first season had the most amazing

game inspired environments such as the Castlevania dungeon and Dragon Quest inspired location.

Besides that the animation is cleaner, the writing is better and more character-focused. This season

gave a lot of development to Five, Miko, Mitch Williams, and Phil. It also introduced a new character

that is fairly important in terms of fleshing out the world of Glitch Techs. This character is an illegal

modder named Ridley who introduces the concept of hacking Hanobi tech and creating their own

glitches which will surely be important for future Glitch Tech seasons. Besides Ridley's importance in

introducing new concepts in this series, Ridley is sure to play a big part in later seasons, especially with

the final episode of this teasing a conflict between our main characters and the Hanobi corporation.

There were a lot of great character storylines this season but my favorite one has to be Mitch's, he went

through the most character development and got a sharp new look to match it. Mitch actually starts to

learn to work with others and becomes more of a mentor figure to Five and Miko as the season went

on, which is big change considering is total jerk and bully coming into this second season.

Another character that a thought had a really interesting storyline this season was when we got to learn

about Five's father who is actually in prison for hacking related crimes. The only other animated show

that tackled a parent in prison was Adventure Time who had Finn's father be in magical jail but it really

doesn't count in terms of being an impactful development. This is really the first animated show I

know of that has dived into the whole emotional trauma of a character having a parent in prison

growing up. Even more surprising is that despite referencing a lot of things most children wouldn't

know about, this is still at the end of the day a PG animated show from Nickelodeon. You really got

to respect the show runners for adding such a hard and real situation into a kids show.

Besides the writing, they turned up their creativity in terms of powers the Glitch Techs are capable of

using such as pausing people in place, super speed, tool grenades, telekinesis, and a lot of brand new

weapons. The first season was chock-full of gaming references and this season is no different, paying

respects to old games and new alike. There is an episode entire episode for pong and space invader.

There is also an episode that I'm pretty sure is a rift on Five Night at Freddy's with an animatronic bear

that helps kids celebrate their birthdays. Although my favorite parody was the Dance Dance

Revolution centered episode because they somehow combined DDR with a kaiju fighting game. All in

all this season was awesome, besides the lack of game inspired environments that season one really

excelled at. Overall I would give this season a 9 out of 10. This is honestly one of the most unique

animated shows out there in terms of its ability to make episodes based around parodying pop culture, I

would say it is on par with Rick and Morty in this aspect. If you play video games no matter the genre,

this is a must-watch show. Even if you don't play video games, this is a great animated show with

awesome writing and action, I highly recommend it. I'm impatiently waiting for the third season of

Glitch Techs!
